April 2025 has been the best month for the Indian car market so far, selling 3,48,847 units, registering an increase of 4 percent. While the passenger car (hatchback, sedan and other) who fell 7 percent in the year-by year (1,14,331 units) in April, utility vehicles (SUVs and MPVs) saw an increase of 10 percent (2,34,516 units), which prevented a composite drop. The increase in sales in UV also meant that SUVs and MPVs now have 67 percent of the total wholesale in India, compared to their 63 percent stake in April 2024.
