KIA EV6 facelift real world range tested, explained

The new, large 84kwh battery of EV6 promises a range of up to 581 km. We test the claim.

EV6 Was a facelift Recently launched 65.9 lakh rupees (East-Shore, India). In addition to some styling changes and technological upgrades, the largest update is the introduction of a large 84kwh battery, which is the place of the old 77.4kwh unit. We have subjected EV to our real world range tests, to see how efficient it is really.

  1. Tests were done in eco drive mode
  2. EV6 facelift has a range of 581 km (WLTP)
  3. Four levels of braking are obtained with one-palm mode

Kia EV6 facelift range, real world skills

The new 84kwh battery pack, like its predecessor, uses NMC chemistry, not only more energy-burning, but also claims to be lighter than it changes. For example, the claimed range has gone up to 581 km (WLTP), which is already above 53 km.

Impressively, in real -world conditions, we managed to achieve a combined range of 498 km, close to the official figure. City driving received a efficiency of 5.18 km/kwh, which translates to a useful range of about 435 km. Interestingly, highway efficiency was even better at 6.67 km/KWH, providing a range of about 560 km.

However, it is worth noting that the environment temperature increased by about 12 degrees during our city run, which meant that AC had to work hard to keep the cabin cool, affecting efficiency. In addition, while we used the level 3 (total four levels) region braking in the city, it was not strong enough to resume enough charge or to bring EV to a full stop.

Autocar India’s range testing

Prior to our actual world range test, our test car battery was fully charged, and the pressure of the tire was determined as per the recommendation of the manufacturer. The car was operated on a certain loop in the city of Mumbai and on a nearby state highway, and we maintained the average speed. At the end of each cycle, we calculated the range based on the percentage of consumption. During testing, climate control was set to 22 ° C in full-auto settings, and other electricals such as audio systems, indicators, and ventilated front seats were used as required, such as a regular user. We are proud of our test data, which is not only consistent, but also gives users an accurate indication of what they can expect in the real world.
