Last year, we specifically explained that the TV will start Norton motorcycles manufactured in India In 2025. Now, TVS MD Sudarshan Venu has confirmed that the British brand will be launched by the end of this year. Given the fact that the current Norton 961 and the V4 models are already on sale in the UK, the launch here is likely to be for the Indian market.
- Norton bike will be manufactured in India
- New India UK Free Trade Agreement will help in scaling rapidly
More details on the upcoming Norton model
TVS-made Norton Bike will be aimed at Royal Enfield
TVS acquired this prestigious British brand in 2020 for a relatively low amount of Rs 153 crore, but has since invested over 1000 crores in the brand. The investment was initially designed towards fixing issues with the current Norton motorcycles, replacing its focus on a new border of motorcycles focused with the company. This is the new bike that will probably be likely to be manufactured in India.
As we reported last year, TVS owned Norton plans to launch six all new motorcycles by 2027. We hope that one or two of these new age motorcycles will go on sale first when Norton is launched in India.
These new Norton motorcycles will be built here in India, although the finally free trade agreement between India and Britain will be of great benefit for both companies. This is because some manufacturing will still be out of Norton’s new soly facility in Britain. However, Venu explains that this agreement will be very beneficial, “Our British brand Norton will be launched later this year and this agreement will help us take advantage of rapid scale and general supply chains.
We expect to take our first look at All-New Norton around September this year, before they go on sale close to the end of the year in India. These bikes will be involved in the choice of Indian-made Triumph and Harley-Davidson, with the collective target of all Royal Enfield’s retro motorcycle space.
