Royal enfield SCram 440 was officially launched in November 2024 with delivery starting in 2025. However, a few months later, the company has closed the booking and sales of this motorcycle to the next notice.
- There is an issue with the engine starts in some scum 440s
- Sales stopped in April 2025
Royal Enfield Scram 440 Engine issue
A component
The issue takes below for separate motorcycles where the engine is not ready to start after running for some time. As we understand, the engine does not stall the middle-ride, but in some cases is not ready to restart it after it is closed. Sources tell us that this issue is under a component called Woodroff within Magento.
Scram 440 booking, sales closed since April
We have learned that the company has already started sending updated components to dealers to be set up on existing customers motorcycles. However, despite this, booking and sales have been stopped from around 10 April.
Sources have informed us that the incidents are limited to different units and only about 2 percent of the bikes sold have been affected. Nevertheless, Royal Enfield is taking an additional vigilant approach here that will eventually be for the benefit of the customer.
Royal Enfield Scram 440 Sales are expected to resume by June
The possibility of scram 440 review was delayed due to engine issue
We have been given to understand that Royal Enfield has been targeting to resume booking and sales by June 2025, but it has not been officially confirmed. We reached the company for a statement and this is what they have shared with us: “We are currently experiencing a delay in delivery of Scramas 440. Our teams are actively working to resolve the situation and hope to resume delivery soon.”
While we have yet to get a review motorcycle (which is likely to be below the issue), Scram 440 has the ability to be a popular bike for Royal Enfield. The new scum increased performance and refinement on significant reforms such as better breaks and six-speed gearbox along with the previous Himalayan/Scram 411. This New Himalayan 450 should make an attractive (and much more economical) option that has proved effectively capable, but is slightly too long and top heavy for small/short riders.
