Hyundai Buyer or Kia Celtose: Which SUV should you buy?

Both sisters are models, but the 2024 facelift of Creta creates it new compared to cellos.

I recently sold my 15 -year -old Maruti Dzire, and I have shortlisted Hyundai buyer SX (O) and Kia Seltos GTX+. I know both are cousins, but I am confused. Since my driving is mainly around 1,000 km within the city, I’m planning to buy an automatic. Should I go for diesel or petrol?

Abhishek Shetty, Bengaluru

Autocar India says: Given that your monthly driving is around 1,000 km and mainly within the city, we recommend choosing for a petrol automatic on diesel, as the low fuel cost of the diesel engine makes financial understanding only for high-college users. At 1,000 km/month, savings will not be sufficient to offset the high initial cost of a diesel version.

Another concern is that modern diesel engine comes with a diesel particulate filter (DPF), which requires regular high speed, long distance drive to prevent clogging. In city driving, with frequent small visits, DPF cannot reach optimal temperatures, forcing the issue of maintenance and forced regeneration drive.

The best petrol option will be the Hyundai buyer and kia celtose, but we suggest a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with CVT. Unlike turbo-petrol options, it is smooth, sophisticated and well suited to the city’s driving, which can feel jerky in stop-go traffic.

While both SUVs share the same platform, we recommend Creta SX (O) on Celtose GTX+ because Creta is the new model; SELTOS is due to a complete model change in 2026. The option for Creta ensures that your car remains on for longer.
