First report: Electric curve enters our fleet and immediately closes on an intercity run.
It was only fitting that the first intercity runs in our long term Karvav EV was for Tata motors Plant in Pimpri for a special occasion – EV Day of Tata Motors, 2,00,000 Tata EV celebrates Milestone! No other Indian manufacturer has achieved this achievement, a will for Tata’s leading role in the country’s electric mobility revolution.
Launched in August last year, CurVV EV is the latest addition to Tata’s electric line-up. Essentially a ‘coup-friend’ version NobleIt packs a large battery, greater power and rapid charging. While we have tested its DC fast charging speed so far, our first top-up was on the 22kw AC charger of our office. Curvv EV supports AC charging on 7.2kw, which is sufficiently sharp when the car is parked at work.

The charging port is easily located in the nose, so it is easy to access from any side.
However, reaching the charging port was not easy as expected, and there was a mess. Flush-fitting charging flap, designed to slide open through a haptic touch control on the dashboard, refused the breeze. No amount of any kind of pressure or coitus works, and in the end, I had to physically open it by hand – hardly the ideal when you are plugs regularly. The defect was informed to Tata Motors, and after a quick workshop visit, it was corrected.
He said, the location of the charging port – very neatly integrated Karvav Nose – is a certain benefit. In our office parking, where the designated EV slot is right next to a wall, side-mounted charging ports can be a problem, often a strange squeeze is required to plug in. Not more often, you brushing against the wall and dirty your clothes. With the front of the port, there is no one of that disappointment – just a clean, open space that easily maneuvers to the charging gun in the socket.
Gliding up to the Tata Motors plant on the outskirts of Pune took three hours for Atal Setu within three hours, which has changed our lives. Getting out in and out in Mumbai is incredibly easy and even pleasant. I started with a full charge and an indicated 338 km range and revealed in Karvav EV’s high-speed stability and inhabited rides. But I kept an eye on my speed-only to conserve the range, but also due to a flock of motion cameras who now dott the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The price of a single violation can be Rs 2,000 for you, and was disappointed with some classes to 60kph, it seems almost impossible to avoid fines.

The throttle pedal has a large early dead area, making it difficult to modulate in stop-go traffic.
The 10 km climb at Lonwal Ghat is cruel on an EV battery, a drawing range at a dangerous rate. So I was not very worried when I reached Pimpri with 46 percent charge and despite 150 km to cover the return journey, a range of just 140 km was left. Downhill runs will help me replenish some charge, and as long as I usually hit the toll plaza on the basis of the ghat, my range is often more than 10 km ago. Therefore, I quit recharging at the Tata Motors Factory, eager to find out whether Karvav EV can actually pass an acid test to complete the Mumbai-Pan Round Trip on a charge. It turns out, it can do about the bus.
I was more gentlers on the return journey, while tolerating between Eco and City Mode. In both these modes, when you press the accelerator pedal, you kill an initial dead zone, so you recall that the immediate response is known to EV. Curvv EV is very responsible in sports mode, but I did not want to risk indulging in it with more than half an empty battery.
On the decline from Lonwala to the toll plaza, the Regen of the electric motor was not particularly effective, and despite using the strongest L3 Regen Mode, I could not charge that much and only managed to bring back the additional range of only 2-3 km.

The Mumbai-moon round trip proved to be difficult, in which the dynasty did not have enough charge.
It is likely that the brake regeneration of the Curvv EV is not deliberately strong because the car is a front-wheel drive, all the regions are on the front wheels, and the region strength is limited to prevent excessive front-end dives.
This meant that as soon as I entered the Atal Setu, the SOC immersed below 10 percent, triggers power-saving mode and caping its speed up to 50kph. I went into a slow street and had ignorance Wagon RS And Altos After beating me! I have never drove so slowly on Etel Setu before.
I just reached the office (and the house, which was another 7 km away) with only 6 percent and a great relief, finally plugged the car to our wall-box charger.

The aircon of curvv effectively cools the cabin, especially with express cool work.
Staying with Curvv Ev is otherwise painless, and it is an excellent city car. For me a big standout feature is an air-conditioning system. The fixed-scroll aircraft compressor is silent, and during the unusually sizzling march, it cooled the cabin brilliantly.
For the next few months, Curvv Ev will be my daily driver, and I am eager to see how it is rent in the long run.
